10/31 Martin Garrix & Dean Lewis - Used To Love

11/01 Matisse & Sadko - Fade Away (feat. SMBDY)

Last week, Martin Garrix teamed up with Australian singer-songwriter Dean Lewis— most known for his hit songs Waves and Be Alright— to coproduce Used To Love. The track was released on Garrix' own label STMPD RCRDS and was supposedly recorded whilst the DJ was taking a break after injuring his ankle earlier this year, an incident which saw him pulling out of all shows for several weeks.

“It was amazing to make this song together. Dean is such a good friend and an exciting talent. He writes deeply personal lyrics and his style of music is timeless.”
-Martin Garrix

Another song to be released off STMPD this week was Russian duo Matisse & Sadko's melodic, progressive track Fade Away, with help from Garrix himself as well as vocals provided by SMBDY. Fade Away shifts between chilled out, almost melancholic verses and triumphant, euphoric instrumentals.

11/01 Alok & Hugel feat. Amber Van Day - I Don't Wanna Talk

Currently holding the title of highest ranking DJ in South America, Alok was back with another banger last week. Working alongside French DJ Hugel, the pair teamed up with British singer-songwriter Amber Van Day to drop this pop anthem I Don't Wanna Talk, out now on Alok's Controversia imprint. Amber Van Day has been gaining momentum recently, releasing a string of collaborations with high-profile producers in addition to preparing for the release of her solo project next year.

"‘I Don’t Wanna Talk’ is the first song that Amber and I wrote on the day we met for the first time two years ago. Her voice on this track has a magical oriental melody that’s hypnotizing. It’s really sexy,” said Hugel. “In March 2019, Alok contacted us while I was at Miami Music Week and wanted to work on the beat. He produced a cool version of the song and we decided to collaborate. Here we are: 3 artists, 3 nations – Brazil, France, and England.”

11/01 Nervo, Skazi - Faded

Fans of Zhu will be familiar with this one. Last week, Australian DJ duo Nervo worked with Israeli psytrance DJ Skazi to release their own take on Zhu's 2014 hit, Faded. This revamped version uses Nervo's vocals over the top of Skazi's remix, which perfectly blend together to create a vocal house/pop number certain to fill the dancefloor. The music video uses a desert backdrop, with festival outfits, dancing flames and vividly coloured 'substances', there are definitely some Burning Man vibes going on here.

11/01 Nicky Romero, Mike Williams & Amba Shepherd - Dynamite

Dutch artists Nicky Romero and Mike Williams finally got together after becoming friends through Instagram. Their new single Dynamite is the first time these two have ever collaborated together and was was released on Romero's own Protocol Recordings last week. The song is a prime example of both progressive house and future bounce, representing a harmonious balance of both artists' styles and with Australian singer Amba Shepherd lending her voice for the beautiful vocals.

"I got to know Mike by Instagram, we were in touch for a while when he asked if we could do a studio session anytime soon, so we planned everything and came out to the studio, worked on a few ideas and got this one going really fast," -Nicky Romero

11/01 Jason Ross x Dabin - One That Got Away (feat. Dylan Matthew)

Following in the wake of his recent single When The Night Falls with Fiora, Jason Ross is back again with another track on Seven Lion's Ophelia Records. One That Got Away is a beautifully chilled out song made all the more perfect by the addition of vocals from the increasingly popular Dylan Matthew. Fans of the track have a lot more to look forward to in the not-so-distant future, as Ross has been working away lately gearing up for the release of his first studio album. Take a listen to One That Got Away in all its entirety below.

"Dylan is one of the strongest vocalists on the scene right now and [he] has a way of creating lyrics and hooks that the crowds will sing out loud," Ross said. "He did just that on this track. It was truly a pleasure working with him."
