Where to Celebrate Halloween in Asia? 5 Bloodcurdling Parties for October 2019

Eat, drink and be scary at these 5 Halloween hotspots

Will | October 3rd, 2019

It's that time of year again... Let's face it, you probably started watching horror films and planning costume ideas as soon as September arrived, but when it comes to actually finding a party in Asia- your choices can feel limited. Halloween isn't as widely or enthusiastically celebrated in Asia as it is in other parts of the world, so it can be tricky trying to find somewhere suitable enough to raise hell when the 31st is finally upon us. As a result, we've decided to help you out by researching the best places to dress up and party down across the region, here are our findings:

Zouk Fright Safari (Singapore)

Zouk Nightclub

October 25th-27th

"Explore the treacherous grounds of Fright Safari, abandoned since the 1960s after an unknown radiation leak. Come through for those who dare, into the thumping beats of the deep safari or the luring reverberations of our underground labs".

Put on your radiation suit and discover what's shaking the floors down at Zouk's abandoned laboratory... For 2019, Asia's most revered nightclub will be transformed into a sci-fi nightmare realm whose walls are teeming with untold horrors. Spread out across three dates, Zouk's Fright Safari invites you to party alongside mad scientists and disturbing creatures, just try not to step in the bio-hazardous waste...

Escape: Psycho Circus (Korea)

Seoul Grand Park

October 25th–26th

Escape: Psycho Circus is the horror-inspired festival that’s been hosted in San Bernardino, California every year (excluding 2013) since 2011. Taking place just around the corner from Halloween, attendees can revel in the creepy atmosphere whilst their favourite DJs play EDM, house, electro house, drum and bass, techno, hardstyle, dubstep, trance, and more.

This year marks the first time that Escape: Psycho Circus has moved outside of Southern California and is a joint venture between Insomniac and Korean events company EDM&Co, the same people they teamed up with for the EDC Korea debut. Like every Insomniac festival, aside from the music there will be a sinister ensemble of performers and art ready to enhance your carnival experience.

Universal Studios Japan

September 6th-November 4th

Compared to other Asian cities, Tokyo really embraces the season and throws itself into the Halloween spirit. Costume parades take place throughout the whole of October and Shibuya becomes a total free-for-all for young people roaming the streets drunk. For those looking for a real party, Womb nightclub is hailed as Japan's finest and will be hosting a couple of huge Halloween ragers on the 26th and 31st, check out their official website for more information.

For those who are interested in a more wholesome experience, Universal Studios Japan are bringing new meaning to the term 'thrill seekers' with their annual Halloween festivities. Spend your night dancing with zombies, munching on gourmet food in a haunted mansion or run for your life and try to escape the various horror mazes.

Lan Kwai Fong Parties (Hong Kong)

Lan Kwai Fong

Sometimes dubbed the 'Halloween Capital of Asia', Hong Kong is similar to Tokyo in the sense that it's not hard to stumble upon a street parade or party. Hong Kong is known for its thriving bar scene, and Lan Kwai Fong is the best place to go if you're decked out in your costume and looking to get messy. Although you can be sure to have a good time at the big nightclubs like Volar and Play, the best spot for spooky season is probably found on the streets of Lan Kwai Fong itself. Join the hordes of rowdy revelers and soak in the Halloween atmosphere (whilst necking a bottle of whisky from the nearest convenience store), before stumbling into one of the many, many bars.

Keep an eye on Lan Kwai Fong's website for more information about upcoming events.
